Job Description

The Network Engineer is primarily responsible for the engineering, configuration, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of networks, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems.

SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS – KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Service Strategy / Build

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend networking hardware and software such as routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems;
  • Design, configure, and implement local & wide area networks (LAN/WAN/WLAN);
  • Own, configure and manage the solutions for load-balancing, end-point protection, VPN (including SSLVPN), VOIP etc.;
  • Design, validate and update Eurofins networking standards;
  • Follow Eurofins Service Management Processes;
  • Contribute to the improvement of Network services’ health.

Service Run / Continuous improvement

  • Take responsibility for day-to-day network management, including seeing through critical issues to resolution and juggling different priorities to support the Business requirement;
  • Deploy and administer of various network Solutions (Cisco, CheckPoint, etc.);
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve connection, reliability, or performance issues;
  • Manage technical escalations/provide elevated support to maintain service level agreements;
  • Assist in overseeing the primary activities of individual contributors (L1 Network Engineers) to ensure completion of tasks and attainment of departmental goals;
  • Work with little to no supervision, with latitude for independent judgment;
  • Consult with senior peers on medium to complex projects;
  • Work within and assist with management of defined IT processes and procedures including Systems Development Life Cycle methodology;
  • Follow ITIL methodology, and utilize existing Eurofins policies and procedures;
  • Conduct network audits to identify gaps and challenges in the technology, team expertise, process, documentations etc. and deploy the service improvement plan.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/IT or similar;
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of experience with Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP;
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of experience with switches/routers, firewalls and related device support;
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of experience with planning and implementing local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN/WLAN);
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of experience with planning and implementing layer 2 network design and protocols (STP, VLAN);
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of experience with planning and implementing enterprise networks with dynamic routing (OSPF, BGP);
  • ITIL Foundation certification is strongly preferred;
  • Eager to learn and continuously develop personal and technical capabilities;
  • Extensive knowledge of networking technologies, switching, routing, VoIP and high availability;
  • Experience with network design/architecture/engineering;
  • Extensive knowledge of LAN / WAN / WLAN (AP, etc.) topologies, Proxies, Load Balancers and Network security (Firewall, VPN);
  • Knowledge of SD-WAN Technology, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS) is preferred;
  • Extensive knowledge of Layer 3 Protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, QOS, etc.);
  • Experience with IPsec, Dynamic and Route Based VPN tunnels, and VPN technologies like IPSEC VPN;
  • Experience in maintaining technical documentation;
  • A deep understanding of ITIL-based processes;
  • Fluent spoken and written English is required;
  • Willingness to travel (up to 30% of working hours).
